Review | Nivea Extra White Day Serum

Sunday, August 31, 2014

I purchased this on a whim, as it states that it is for all skin types, especially for women who use makeup regularly which results in dull skin. I do not personally believe that I have dull skin but I do use makeup regularly so why not?

I haven't noticed this product before in stores, and apparently after some research, I realised that this serum is only launched in Singapore in August 2014.

This serum has no instructions to it, but I use it like any other serum - after tone and before moisturiser. Texture wise, this serum reminds me of sunscreen. It is quite fluid, but feels slightly heavy on the face. It blends well on the face and gets absorb pretty fast. There is a scent to it though, typical of Nivea products, so it does feel like you're slathering Nivea body lotion onto your face. If you have any qualms about that, I suggest you steer clear from this as the scent is definitely noticeable!

This serum claims to help makeup last longer as well as to refine them pores and lessen dark spots within 7 days. Interesting claims. This serum also contains a SPF of 22, which is great for battling the hot sun in Singapore! I've been using it for about 2 weeks now and here are my thoughts:

Did it make my makeup last longer? Not really. My foundation lasted for an average of 7-8 hours without being all splotchy. This is normal for me even before using this serum.

Did it refine my pores? Hmm. Slightly. I noticed that my pores got a little smaller so I'm optimistic. I'll keep using and I'll be sure to update if this works out well!

Lessen dark spots? I do not have dark spots (yet) so I can't give you a definite answer.

Whiten my skin? I do feel that my skin is a tad lighter than it used to be! I got really tanned after a photoshoot recently and was kinda depressed as my foundations are becoming too light for my skin tone. Now, the foundations match way better so that's a plus! I'll keep using this and see how it goes. Will update if there is any noticeable difference worth mentioning!

Overall, I do not think I would repurchase this serum again. It did not blow me away with its effectiveness in living up to its claims. The scent is slightly bothering me as well.

Rating: 2.5/5

I purchased mine off Guardian at SGD$15.90.

Hope this review helped you and thank you for reading!
Have a great makeup day ahead!Xo.
