Review | The Face Shop Myeonghan Miindo Heaven Grade Ginseng Whitening Emulsion

Monday, May 11, 2015

Hey guys!

Today I'm back to share with you my thoughts regarding the Myeonghan Miindo Heaven Grade Ginseng Whitening Emulsion by The Face Shop! Recently, I had the pleasure to go to their 10-step Korean skin care workshop and was blown away at my utter lack of skin care. 10 steps. I have... 4? Cleanse, Tone, Moisturise and Eye cream. Man I gotta step up my skincare game!

Anyway, the Myeonghan Miindo range was recently launched, and I got to try out the Whitening Emulsion from this range. According to the website, the brightening ingredients in the white ginseng extract extract help to improve dull skin and brighten up the skin tone, leaving skin smooth with its creamy texture. It also contains white gold pearl as well as traditional herbs grown in korea, with no artificial coloring and synthetic preservatives. Ultimately, it is marketed as a premium velvety whitening emulsion that glides smoothly and moisturizes skin, as well as radiates dull skin.

It is meant to be used like a moisturiser, applied twice daily after cleansing, toning and all that jazz.

Firstly, the packaging. I love the pump. It is so quick, neat and hygienic. The bottle itself looks pretty posh if you ask me too. The bottle is made of glass, just in case you wanted to know. So yes, definitely not travel-friendly. You get 140ml of product (which is a lot!) too, which I'd say makes it value for money as well.

This is how the texture looks like! (This is not one full pump)

As you can see, the texture is very light and blends really easily.

Fully blended. It takes about 1-2 minutes for it to be fully absorbed and not be shiny.
(and yes, my manly hands :()
I love the texture of this emulsion, it is not too heavy nor thick, and spreads easily on the face. It gets absorbed pretty quickly too, which is great as I hate the tackiness that some moisturisers leave on the skin (since it is so hot and humid here in Singapore).

I only use this in the morning as I have a night cream. Since it is an emulsion and its light texture, I thought it would not be as moisturising as a cream. But I'm glad that I've been proved wrong. I always suffer from dry patches around the sides of my nose and sometimes on my forehead. I do not get these dry patches with this emulsion - it is moisturising enough! So definitely, I approve in terms of its moisturising properties.

In terms of brightening up the skin tone, to be honest, I can't really see a difference. I've been using this daily for about 2 months now. Perhaps longer usage would result in a more significant difference. So sorry guys, I can't pass any verdict on its brightening effect yet! If I notice any difference in months to come, I'll be sure to update here.

Overall, I do like this moisturising emulsion. It hydrates really well and I love its light texture and its quick absorption rate.

Rating: 3.5/5

You can check here for more details. It retails around SGD$40 (sorry I can't remember the price!)

Hope this review helped you in some way and thanks so much for dropping by!
