My First Experience at Yun Nam Haircare

Thursday, December 03, 2015

I am the worst when it comes to taking care of my hair and scalp (ask some of my friends - they know). Who needs a hair brush, I'd say.

Truth to be told, when I got contacted to try out a treatment at Yun Nam Hair Care, I was pretty reluctant. My hair seemed fine and being *fairly* young, I do not see the need for me to do so.
Regardless, I thought why not and decided to give it a shot. It would be a good chance for me to see if the lazy nights of dousing dry shampoo and baby powder caught up with me.

And it did. But more on that later on.

Yun Nam was established in 1984 and is a well known heritage brand for 31 years. They aim to improve hair health and their established methods will get to the root (no pun intended) of the hair/scalp problems.

When I entered the premises, the first impression was the scent of ginseng and herbs. It was not overpowering, but the scent definitely would catch your attention. This was no surprise though, as Yun Nam is known for using their 100% herbal formula and is chemical free. There are 6 main herbs in Yun Nam's herbal remedy - Ginseng, Dang Gui, He Shou Wu, Hong Hua, Dang Shen and Chuan Xiong.

Basically put, there are 4 phases for their treatments:
1. Professional Consultations
2. Hair Scan Analysis (my favourite yet scariest part)
3. Hair Care Treatments
4. Monitoring of Progress

Yeah, that clot was not the most attractive looking.

I had the pleasure to consult with Michelle, the Branch Manager of the outlet located at Plaza Singapura. She used a computer scanner to thoroughly scan my scalp and boy, were the results a little daunting. As the scan got into microscopic detail, let's say you get to see every puny detail that ain't right about your scalp.

For me, I had tons of oil clots on my scalp due to an oily scalp. Due to my negligence in *ahem* proper maintenance, the excess sebum just coagulated in various hair pores. I also had thinning hair. Not my best moment, I gotta say. I was pretty surprised by how badly clogged my scalp was.

To get rid of the oil clots, Michelle applied a specific herbal remedy onto my scalp using a brush for precise placement.

Then we waited for the product to do its magic!

After about 20-30 minutes, it was time to wash it off. Man, nothing expresses my love to have someone wash my hair. It feels amazing and of course, my arms don't have to do all the work haha. Michelle also helped me to blow dry my hair (styling option is also possible) after.

We got to do the scalp analysis again at the end and the results were pretty dramatic. I was pretty surprised at the lack of oil clots!

Left: Before
Right : After
P.S. The yellow gelatin looking dots are the oil clots!

Overall, I am pretty satisfied with my first experience here. The results pretty much speak for itself. I will post another update after I have had more treatments!
