Unboxing | Althea x Eva Collaboration Box

Tuesday, September 20, 2016

Althea Korea is a great website for access to various Korean beauty and makeup brands. I have gotten tons of my korean skincare and makeup from em'! This time round, Althea and YouTuber/K Beauty Creator, Eva, have collaborated on a special box.

Inside, we've got ourselves products which Eva used to recreate a look that was worn by Effy from Skins :
Tony Moly Gel Eye Liner
Innisfree Always New Auto Liner in 11
Innisfree Powerproof Brush Liner in 2
Witch's Pouch Sweet Banhana Mascara
Missha Single Eyeshadow in Black
3 Concept Eye Pink Rumour Eyelashes
Aritaum Mono Eyes in Dark Brown
Etude house Drawing Eye Brow

Here is the video of Eva using the products included in the box to recreate Effy's look!

The first item we've got (which I stupidly forgot to add in the main cover image) is the Tony Moly Gel Liner. I've heard good things about this from a while back, but never got the push to pick it up so I was pretty excited to play with this when I saw it in the box!

The Tony Moly Gel Liner is an intense black that dries to a satin finish on the lids. It is extremely creamy and glides nicely on the skin! I had to admit that I was nervous using this as I have not touched gel liners in a long while but the creaminess of the product made it easy to work with. It comes with a liner brush in the cap as well, so it is extremely handy!

The two items I pulled out were liners from Innisfree. I have not tried any makeup from this Korean brand so you know I was pleased!

If you watched the video, you saw how she used the Innisfree Powerproof Brush Liner in 2 to add in some texture to her brows by adding small hair like strokes. I have not tried this techniques using a liquid liner before, but this worked great. The tapered brush tip made it really easy and it did look really natural when used with a light hand.

A tip to make the eyes look larger and brighter is by adding a nude pencil into the waterline. This helps to enhance the the whites of the eyes. I rarely do so as I find that many pencils are not creamy enough and they tug on my skin. This Innisfree Always New Auto Liner in 11 is creamy and does deposit quite a bit of pigment onto the waterline without tugging.

Here are the swatches of both Innisfree liners:

The next item we have in the box is a mascara from Witch's Pouch. I have not heard of this brand before so I got pretty excited to try it out.

The Witch's Pouch Sweet Banhana Mascara has a really unique wand (as you can see in the picture) and it has the ability to grab onto every single lash. This mascara is supposed to provide a natural look to the lashes while lengthening and curling it at the same time.  I do like the wand of it quite a bit, but as I generally gear towards more dramatic and clumpy lashes, the intensity of this mascara is not sufficient for me and I find myself reaching for another to amp up the volume.

In the box are two single eyeshadows, one from Aritaum and the other from Missha. The Aritaum Mono Eyes Single Eyeshadow comes in the shade #90 (a rich, dark chocolate brown) and the Missha Single Shadow comes in MBK 01 (a deep charcoal black).

I foresee using em' into a smokey eye look and I got to say that both shadows are highly pigmented. I tried them and they show up nicely on the skin. There is a little fallout from the Missha eyeshadow so do be careful! P.s. the Aritaum dark chocolate shade is giving me so much life. Throw this into the outer V with any shade on the mobile lid and it just looks soooo good.

We also have a pair of eyelashes from 3CE. Honestly, I did not know that they do lashes (Hey, I'm still wandering my way through the Kbeauty world!) but don't they look good. These Pink Rumour Eye Lashes are very flexible and soft, with a thin lash band. These are super easy to pop on and they do not feel heavy on the lids (as I hate those). These are half lashes and are not something that I am used to, but I do see it being perfect for beginners, especially Asians who are struggling with monolids. I focus them onto the outer half of my lash line and they do add nice volume and a tad extra drama onto the outer corners, while slightly lifting the eye.

P.s. These lashes come with a small tube of glue which works alright.

Next, we have an eyebrow pencil from Etude House.

This Drawing Eye Brow is in shade Dark Brown and the tip is similar to that of Anastasia Beverly Hills's Brow Definer. It is angled and tapered (instead of just a pencil tip) and I personally do like it to draw in my brows.

Pigmentation is pretty good and it goes onto the skin fairly easily. I like to draw on the outline of the brow and then flip the pencil over to use the spoolie on the other end to blend the product out and through the brows.

Here is an eye look using the products from the box (except the lashes, because honestly, I forgot).
It got a tad patchy when blending the dark chocolate shade in my crease, as you can see from the picture. I highly recommend using another shade onto the crease and just focus the Aritaum dark chocolate shade onto the lids.

This box will be released on Althea Korea's website this week!

It retails for SGD 46 which you can access here.

This is pretty worth it considering that if you purchase the items separately, it would cost more! For reference, the mascara alone is already SGD 11, the Tony Moly Gel Liner is SGD 8 and the 3CE Lashes are going for SGD 10.

Hope you enjoyed the unboxing! Do these products intrigue you? Let me know if you're planning to grab yourself a collab box!

Till next time,
