Estetica | My Customised Facial

By Sarah - Friday, October 21, 2016

Estetica has been around for 36 years and I am sure that you have bound to walk past one of their outlets before. Recently, the outlet in Singapore has gotten a revamp to enable easy access to their products and the shop interior looks really posh! I dropped by to try out their customised facial and wanted to share with you my treatment and experience.

Before we begun, I sat down with my therapist and we went through a detailed skin analysis to figure out my current skin condition (which isn't top notch, thanks to my allergies and just in general, life). This enabled the therapist to give me recommendations and suggestions as to what kind of skin care products I should be using on the daily.

Right after, we proceeded to the treatment room to begin the facial. The room is of a good size and it felt cosy. The one aspect I was particularly a fan of was the soft fluffy purple blanket that I got to snuggle under while getting the facial. It was really soft and super comfy.

After removal of my makeup and cleansing of the skin, we proceeded with an exfoliation of the skin using their LumiWhite Brightening Scrub to remove the upper layer of dead skin cells that prevent absorption of skin care products and further cell regeneration. I did not find it too abrasive nor rough, which was great as I tend to shy away from physical exfoliators as I always felt that it agitate my sensitive skin. This was perfectly fine and my skin did not react to it negatively.

This was followed by a quick steaming of the face to prep the skin for extraction. My therapist did not force it and only extracted the ones that were close to the surface of the skin. I gotta say, this was the first time I did not flinch during an extraction process, because it did not hurt much at all. I would not say that my threshold for pain is the highest and I am pretty sure my face contorts in pain whenever I undergo extraction, but not this time. Also, my skin usually turns pinkish red after an extraction session, thanks to the sensitivity of my skin. This is especially so for my cheeks. However, at the end of my facial, my skin was not a tad bit red at all - so that was great.

To calm the skin and add hydration, we moved onto the Advanced Cryo + Freeze Therapy, which helps to improve the transdermal (through the various layers of the skin) delivery of the selected serum. For me, my skin is extremely dehydrated so a serum - ActivCalm Hyalusol HA+ Serum - with a high concentration of hyaluronic acid was chosen to impart hydration and boost radiance. As the applicator is cool on the surface as well, it felt lovely and soothing on the skin and really helped to calm the skin down after the extraction.

Next was a facial and shoulder massage using a customised cream. I was chosen the VitaLift A+ Skin Repair Cream, which aids in DNA repair and improves skin barrier function to protect the skin from visible signs of ageing. I always look forward to the massage during a facial (of course, not all include em'). My shoulders are always tight and there are quite a few knots in the muscular tissues to work out. Of course, this ain't deep tissue massage but it does further help me to relax.

The second last step consists of applying the customised mask onto the skin. I had the Derma Calm De-Stress Cream Mask and Ultra-Sensitive Mask, which helps in reducing skin sensitivity, soothing irritation, diffusing redness and renewing the skin's self-defense capabilities. This was a dual layer mask which I always prefer, as it does help to enhance the absorption of the beneficial ingredients into the skin.

After removal of the mask, the last step was applying of moisturiser and eye cream. The whole facial took about 1.5 hours, excluding the time for the skin analysis.

Overall, this was a pleasant experience. The therapist who did my treatment was able to give me tons of advice on my skin and I felt comfortable throughout the entire session. This facial was really customised to my skin and the products chosen did beneficially aid my skin.

Established in 1980, Estetica has been in the business for 36 years. Judging by their history and my personal experience, I do feel that their slogan does apply; you will definitely be in good hands. There are 9 outlets islandwide as well, so you definitely have your options with no need for excessive travelling.
