Colourpop Peachy Keen Eyeshadow Quad Makeup Tutorial and Review

Recently, I got a beauty care package from Blush Boss and I was really excited to start playing with them and putting all of them to good use!

As I generally lean towards American and British makeup brands, I get the frustration of not being able to find those products easily here in Singapore. Some of these brands rarely ship to Singapore or the shipping costs a fortune, which then makes you question your entire purchase at the end. Imagine the horror when I realised that Anastasia Beverly Hills stopped having Singapore as one of the countries they ship to. I was still am pretty devastated, to say the least.

Blush Boss is a local company that carries makeup from American beauty brands that can be pretty inaccessible to us living in Singapore, namely Charlotte Tilbury, Colourpop, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Jeffreestar , Glossier, Kylie Cosmetics, Milk Makeup and RCMA. They also provide free normal shipping or register shipping (above SGD 70 spent) so I do not feel that need to constantly find things to add into my cart for the sake of free shipping! They also provide free international standard tracked shipping to orders above SGD 70 as well.

In my package, I received the Peachy Keen Eyeshadow Quad, Super Shock Cheek in Birthday Suit and the Pearlised Highlighter in Wisp. I have not tried out Colourpop's matte eyeshadows before so I was pretty excited! I also got the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Very Victoria and oh my goodness, the gold packaging is absolutely luxurious and stunning! Sure, I've seen these lipsticks around on the web, but when it comes to holding it physically in my hands... let's just take a second. I think I could hear the hallelujah chorus.

I do like the Peachy Keen Quad quite a bit as it features my warm toned peachy shades and it has a good combination of 3 matte shades - ranging from light peach to a dark brown- and a shimmery gold.  This is definitely a very wearable, day to day kind of quad. Being no stranger to their shimmer shades, I find it applies the best using my fingers as this provides the highest pigmentation on the lids.

After using the mattes for the tutorial, I highly recommend using synthetic bristled brushes. I found that using a synthetic brush definitely works better as Colourpop shadows do tend to have a moussey texture to them and a natural bristled brush does not pick up as much pigment like I hoped it would.

I created this simple look using all 4 of the shadows and it was really easy to do!

1. Starting off with primed lids. I used my Milani Eyeshadow Primer today.

2. Using my Zoeva #221 Soft Crease Brush, I dipped into the shade Kennedy and popped that into the crease and slightly above with a light hand. I want the colour to peek through right at the top, but without too much intensity either as this shade is pretty warm.

3. Using the my Zoeva #229 Eye Finish Brush, I dipped into the darkest shade, Bandit, and focused that in the outer V of the mobile lid using circular motions. This helps to add more definition to the outer edge of the eye, making it look slightly more lifted and almond-shaped.

4. Using the same Zoeva #221 Blending Brush as before in step 2, I dipped into Cornelious and applied the shade to the crease using windshield wiper motions. This helps to deepen the crease, while blending both Bandit and Kennedy together to remove the harsh line. I highly recommend using a synthetic brush though, as I found that natural bristled brushes do not pick up and deposit the product well.

5.  Lastly, using my Sigma F70 Synthetic Concealer Brush (which I like to use for eyeshadow), I applied Crimper onto the inner 2/3 of the mobile lid and a little bit onto the inner corners to highlight that area as well.

6. I wanted to add some definition to the lower lash line and wasn't feeling a strong liquid winged liner so I opted for my L'Oreal Super Liner V Sculptor in V01 Sculpting Black (review and swatches on this here). After I drew a pretty messy line, I simply took a pencil brush and smudge it all out!

And there we have it! I do like how easy and quick this look is! Topping the face off with the Colourpop Super Shock Cheek in Birthday Suit and Pearlised Highlighter in Wisp. Wisp is a supposed dupe for the famous Mac Soft and Gentle highlighter (I can't vouch for that as I do not own the latter)! Not forgetting to mention my Charlotte Tilbury lipstick in Very Victoria too. I really like this mauvey brown! This lipstick glides on nicely and it does not feel dry on the lips at all.

As the eye makeup is pretty natural, I thought why not try a bolder lip instead? I also received the Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Checkmate so I tried that on with this look as well. It was, a little too bold (*gasp*, I'd never thought I would ever say that) and I felt the need to tone it down so I applied the Gerard Cosmetics in Coral Craze right atop it. Got to say, I am quite a fan of the combination! A little extra pair of falsies doesn't hurt anybody too so why not.

Overall, this is a natural everyday look (for me, at least) and I am a fan of all the products used. Maybe one day I'll get my guts back to wear Checkmate on its own, bright and bold for all to see.
