Review! Shiseido Perfect Foundation Brush

Hi guys!

Today I wanna share my thoughts on the Shiseido Perfect Foundation Brush. I have seen tons of positive reviews about this brush online and I was so tempted. Perfect, they say. Even the name of the brush has the word "perfect" in it. This baby should be pretty amazing. So finally, one day I caved and purchase this!

This brush is firstly, surprisingly small. As compared to my other foundation brushes such as Sigma and Real Techniques, this brush is way smaller in comparison. It is shorter in the terms of length and width! The bristles of this Shiseido brush is also way more packed as compared to my Sigma, which is interesting (considering Sigma brushes are known for their densely packed bristles!).

Here is a comparison with my Sigma F88 & Real Techniques Buffing Brush:

Below: Shiseido Perfect Foundation Brush

Look at the size difference!

The Shiseido PFB 's bristles are also shorter than the Sigma F88.

I was super excited to try this brush so I busted out my favourite foundation of the moment (L'Oreal True Match) and got ready. As this brush is smaller in diameter, I was skeptical about how much time it would take to apply my foundation. I pumped about one pump of my L'Oreal True Match Foundation onto the back of my hand, dipped the bristles into the foundation and started to stipple it onto my face (I read about not buffing the foundation in as the bristles are too short and densely packed). Surprisingly, this little brush amazed me. It did not leave any marks on my face when stippling, which is pretty cool! Unlike my Sigma F50 or my MAC 187, I usually take my stippling brush to buff and blend out the marks left behind after stippling. This Shiseido brush, however, there was no need. It didn't take too long either! Maybe just slightly longer than if I used my Sigma F88.

The amount of coverage I get from this brush is also pretty astounding. It provides me with medium to buildable full coverage. With this brush, I only used one pump of my foundation to evenly cover my face (I usually use about 1 1/2 - 2 pumps usually with my other buffing brushes). If more coverage is needed in certain areas, I will just stipple the brush over that area more and somehow, miraculously, bam. Coverage. Love.

As the handle of this brush is also shorter than other brushes, it provides more control and precision as you can really direct the bristles to any specific areas on your face (such as under the eyes, sides of the nose etc). Great job, really.

The only downside of this brush is... cleaning. Oh man. Since the bristles are so short and densely packed, cleaning is a *don't mind my words* a bitch. It took me about 3 washes to really deep clean and get all the foundation out of the bristles. However, this brush did not shed on me upon application or washing!

Oh, another one would probably be the price. It retails for roughly around SGD$40/USD $30. But considering it is after all, Shiseido and the quality you are getting, this brush is pretty worth the price!

That's all for me today! Have a great makeup day! XO.
