Review | Australis Cosmetics Killer Curves Mascara

Hi friends!

If you have been with me for a while, you would know that I am super picky when it comes to mascaras! My lashes are terribly hard to please – the curl falls almost immediately revealing their ultimate straightness. I’ve tried so many and often, only waterproof mascaras works in holding the curl for me. Many have failed the test, such as Benefit’s Rollerlash and They’re Real! Often, I do find Maybelline mascaras work the best for me as they are often waterproof and had amazing holding power.
That being said, I was bracing myself to dislike this mascara as it isn’t waterproof. However, I’ve been using it for about 2 weeks now and I have to say, I’m pleased. Not obsessed but giving it decent love.

It comes in a slim and sleek tube (smaller than the typical Maybelline and L’Oreal ones), making it compact and easy to travel around with. I actually brought this along with me for my trip to Bangkok as it easily fits into any small makeup bag (not that my makeup bag is small as makeup took up about 1/3 of my luggage, but y’know what I mean).

Australis Cosmetics Killer Curves Mascara

It comes with a rubber wand (reminds me a little of Maybelline’s The Rocket Mascara) but with slightly curves to fit the lash line perfectly. There are tons of small rubber teeth to grab onto every lash. The wand fits nicely along my lashes and I do find application easy and comfortable.

The formula is not too wet (like They’re Real! from Benefit or L’Oreal’s Volume Million Lashes Mascara) and not too dry either which is great. I do not find that it holds my curl extremely well but my lashes do not fall complete flat either. This is amazing news, considering the mascara is not waterproof! However, it doesn’t give you a dramatic curl or vavavoom lashes if you’re into that kind of look so do take note.
It is a true black and defines the lashes and the lash line really well. I hate “crunchy” lashes and I do not get them with this mascara as well, so that is another plus point. It adds volume and not so much length to them lashes, so do take note.

Removal is soooo easy. I hate removing my makeup every night as waterproof mascaras are a pain in the arse to remove! This mascara easily flakes off into my cotton pad (soaked with Bioderma Miscellar Solution) and comes right off, without the need to tug nor rub. This was one huge reason why I decided to bring this along with me on my travels, as ain’t nobody got time to remove waterproof mascara after a long day of exploring and shopping.

That being said, despite it being not waterproof, it has amazing lasting power despite sweat and rain. Bangkok’s weather was pretty crazy, with temperatures hitting a high of 38 degrees in the day and then pouring at night – and this lasted on me the whole day. Ps. I even wore this while exercising (with no other makeup on my face) just to test its lasting power and boy, was I impressed. I did not experience smudges nor black tears running down my face and I sweat like a mofo. That should be telling you something!

Here is my eyeball for your perusal (wearing the mascara):

Overall, I really enjoy this mascara for daily and more natural makeup! It is really affordable too, so it does not hurt your bank account to get them lashes looking fabulous.

Rating: 4.5/5
It retails for SGD $9.99 here (much cheaper than the AUD price!!) or you can find it here for my international readers!
Hope this review was helpful for you and thanks for dropping by! XO.
