Ever since I went for a skin analysis test and discovered how UV radiation has badly affected my skin, I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect sunscreen. I found some great ones which I have been enjoying, such as the Kiehl’s Ultra Light Daily UV Defense as well as the Biore Aqua Sunscreen.
Recently, I was introduced to the Clarins UV Plus Anti Pollution Multi Protection Sunscreen (a mouthful!) and have been pleasantly adopting it into my daily routine!
From the Clarins website:
Formulated with Clarins’ exclusive Anti-Pollution Complex—this lightweight, oil-free day screen shields skin from UVA/UVB rays, pollution, and free radical damage. Forms an invisible shield that protects skin from the appearance of dark spots and future aging. Perfect daily defense for younger-looking skin.
Some of the notable ingredients include:
Clarins’ exclusive organic Sanicle extract, harvested from the Alps, helps strengthen the skin’s line of free radical defense.
Cantaloupe Melon extract, rich in antioxidants, helps protect cells from oxidative stress caused by UVA/UVB rays and pollution.
Organic Blackcurrant extract helps prevent the appearance of redness and tightness caused by pollution and UVA/UVB rays.
Clarins’ exclusive Anti-Pollution Complex helps screen out harsh environmental influences that contribute to premature signs of aging.
Firstly, this sunscreen provides the one of larges range of sun protection in the market so far, with SPF 50 and PA++++ (it got you covered against both UVA and UVB rays!). Despite titanium dioxide (which is a physical sunscreen responsible for the dreaded white cast on the skin) being the third ingredient, I do not find the sunscreen to leave a whitish cast on my skin after application or in photos with flash.

I got mine in the shade Translucent. There are also shades Rosy Glow (tinted pink for added radiance to the skin) and Fairness (tinted blue to reduce the appearance of redness and spots on the skin) available should that interest you.
The bottle is small and easy to bring around in your bag or for travelling. I particularly enjoy the nozzle tip as it makes application more precise and greatly reduces the chances of spillage or the dispensing of too much product at once.
The texture of this sunscreen is pretty fluid and blends easily on the skin. Being oil free, it is non greasy as well and this is perfect for warmer climates such as Singapore as the feeling of a film of sunscreen over the skin was the main reason why I steered clear from sunscreens in the past. I do prefer such lightweight textures more, as it feels less heavy on the skin and more comfortable to wear.

Absorbing into the skin in no time, there is no need to wait a few minutes before makeup application either. This is definitely a plus for me as I’m constantly rushing to get ready in the morning before work! My makeup goes over it smoothly and sits atop well, with no streaking or patchiness throughout the day. It also claims that you can apply it over makeup as a touch up throughout the day – I’ve not tried this, but usually adding a liquid over powder is not a good way to go, in my opinion.
Overall, I do like the texture of this sunscreen and how it provides a well rounded sun protection while still keeping it lightweight and comfortable for everyday usage. This retails for SGD$74 for 30ml at local Clarins counters. For more information regarding this sunscreen, click here!
