Boy have cushions taken the makeup world by storm and I keep seeing brand after brand push new cushion products out. Being a die-hard fan of liquid foundations which come in a bottle or pump, I am constantly on the lookout for a product to change my mind. Personally, the amount of product and coverage as well as lasting power BB/CC/Foundation cushions provide doesn’t satisfy me. That being said, cushions are a great tool for getting ready really quickly in the morning or for travelling as ain’t nobody got time to worry or deal with spills.
After testing out a good amount of cushion products from Korean brands, I was excited to plunge into the world of cushions created by western beauty companies and my first one belongs to L’Oreal and it is the Lucent Magique Cushion Lumière.

I’ve seen and heard quite abit about this so I got pretty excited when I saw it at Shilla Duty Free in Terminal 3. Do note that this cushion I got is different from that in the US aka the ones the YouTubers have been using (and I only realised that this is different much later). This is the L’Oreal Lucent Magique BB Cushion and this is available in Singapore (not to mixed up with the L’Oreal True Match Lumi Cushion – which actually was the one I wanted but that’s cool).
That said, let’s dive into my thoughts about this cushion!

Firstly, this packaging is really pretty, especially with the rose golden metallic cover. Despite it being a magnet for fingerprints, I still do enjoy it tons. When opened, it is like any other – comes with a closable lid that keeps the product concentrated and moist within the cushion itself. It claims to come with an anti-bacterial ruby cell applicator – I can’t guarantee anything about that but I do like the idea as I am not a fan of constant dipping and reapplication with that single sponge that comes with cushions.
One thing I particularly enjoy is the fact that the cushion is drenched with product and I do not find myself having to work up a sweat to get product onto my sponge. One light push enables me to get enough product to work on half of my face. The products applies on the skin nicely and blending is swift and quick – no hassle in this department at all.
I would say that the coverage provided here is light to a buildable medium. I have to build up two layers on my cheeks so as to cover some of my blemishes and acne scarring and despite doing so, these imperfections can still be seen slightly. This would work best for those with minimal pigmentation! Diving into the area around my nose where large pores come out to play, I do not find that it emphasises any of the pores or indentations on my skin which is great. It does not cling too much on the dry patches around my nose either.
This BB cushion feels amazing light on the skin and it makes the skin look “fresh”. It sets after few minutes (instead of being an annoying tacky layer remaining on the skin) to a pretty dewy finish. A lil too dewy for my taste and for Singapore’s weather, so I had to set it with powder.
I got mine in the shade N3 Nude Miracle but it was too light and too neutral-toned for me so I had to bronze up the skin to make it match my neck. The shade selection is pretty pathetic, considering there is only 2 to choose from and N3 is already the darker (or technically, darkest) shade. The other available shade is N2 Ivory Miracle.
(For reference, I am NC 20-25 MAC, Warm Golden for Revlon and Warm Nude For Too Faced Born This Way)

I do like the ingredient composition here as well. Nothing stood out like a red flag (I may be wrong as my cosmetic ingredient knowledge still ain’t top notch) and I am seeing pretty decent ingredients in here that can potential benefit the skin as well. These include methoxycinnamate and titanium dioxide (which protects the skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays), Glycerin (which helps to maintain the outer barrier of the skin and retain moisture) and other notable emollients such as Stearic Acid and Lecithin.
Judging from the ingredients and its texture, this cushion is really hydrating on the skin and I would highly recommend it for those of dry to normal skin. I am oily and this made me look greasy at the end of the day. However, nothing a quick touch up can’t fix. There were no noticeable patches or uneven streaks after wearing this for about 7 hours as well.
|After a pretty darn long day at work. You can see that it wore off at the outer edge near my chin and on my upper lip.
Despite bronzer, the shade is still too neutral toned and light for me.
P.s. That bra strap is killing me.
Overall, I do like this BB cushion for everyday wear as it is very quick and easy and it feels light on the skin. However, if I am heading down the glam route that day, this isn’t going to cut it to provide me with the flawless base that I would require.
This retails for SGD 31.90 in local stores or on Zalora (at Shilla Duty Free, it was SGD 23/24 so if you’re flying off soon, keep a look out!). That’s pretty expensive for a cushion though, in my opinion.
Hope this was helpful and thanks for dropping by!
