Shop my Stash | Makeup Picks for the Week #1

By Sarah - Friday, December 09, 2016

So this week has been hectic. School holidays are no fun when you're not teaching in mainstream schools, but hey, there are pros and cons of every job. To brace myself (and my face) for the long hours, I busted out some of my hardy products - those that are meant to last.

Milani Conceal and Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation and Concealer
This foundation is pretty new for me but for my first few tries, I have really fallen in love with it! This has really good coverage, and it does set to a demi matte finish on my skin. I still do set it with powder as I have oily skin, and this foundation lasted throughout my long day - 12 hours - with only some patches around my nose (which is inevitable since I am always sniffing). As it is pretty thick in formulation, I like to add a drop of facial oil , whichever my hands grab first, and create my own foundation cocktail and it applies like a dream.

Milani Eyeshadow Primer
This has always been on my radar as Emily from Beauty Broadcast loves it so much so when Beautybay had a promotion, I grabbed it. This is a skin coloured cream that blends really nicely on the lids (unlike thicker creams which I tend to struggle with, such as the MAC Paintpots). I am still figuring out if this really does help my eyeshadows to last longer but I do notice that it helps the eyeshadows applied atop more vibrant.

For both Milani products, I got mine off However, the shipping is pretty crappy and it takes quite a while. My order was missing an item so I do suggest acknowledging the risk before you decide to get it! The customer service did get back to me and they are resending the missing item, so that's good!

Colourpop Brow Pot
This is a good alternative to the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow, in my opinion. This is slightly less pigmented and more effort is required to work with, but after application and blending, my brows will not budge. They stay on despite the humid weather and incessant perspiration. What else can I ask for? I use mine in the shade Red Head and this can be purchased off Colourpop's Main Website here.

L'Oreal True Match Concealer
I have tried and liked the True Match Foundation so I guess, why not try the True Match Concealer since I rarely do hear about it. This is pretty decent for a concealer! I am liking the coverage as it manages to cover my painfully evident dark circles. It is pretty hydrating - I find that my undereyes crease less throughout the day and I rarely get the crusty undereye look with this as well. The other aspect I am not a fan of would be the applicator. It comes with a mini brush, resembling those of a nail polish, and it feels awkward applying under the eye.

Tarte Colour Wheel Amazonian Clay Blush Palette
Tarte blushes are really long lasting and something I always reach for when I have a long day. My blush is always the first product to disappear but whenever I use Tarte's blushes, I can still see that lovely flush of colour on the cheeks at the end of the day. This palette comes with 8 blush shades and 2 highlights - a real time saver when I am rushing in the morning! I just realised that this is sold out on Sephora Singapore's Website, but I think it might be coming back soon!

L'Oreal Voluminous Manga Mascara
This mascara does what it claims and that is to provide volume to the lashes. I hate mascaras that clump the lashes and reduce my already sparse lashes into a pathetic 3-5 bunches (if you know what I mean). This does not clump the lashes too much, and provides a good amount of volume and definition. The brush also helps to separate the lashes nicely. Best part, no flaking or smudging throughout the day.

I really need to shop my stash, instead of buying more and that's what I plan to do from now on (or at least till the end of the year). I will try to share my weekly picks so hopefully that would inspire you to dig out some items from your collection as well!

Till then,
