A little late on the june favourites train as I kinda just returned to Singapore! I had a wonderful 2 weeks in Europe, visiting London, Berlin, Rotterdam and Amsterdam and I am extremely grateful for this time off. I did not think about work or this blog, and did not bother about social media and all the shizznet. Honestly, it felt amazing. It feels so good to just unplug and relax as sometimes, work and life just piles up and it can get a little overwhelming.
But back to the purpose of the post, my favourites for this month. These products are tried and tested, and I brought them on my trip.
Aritaum Real Ampoule Colour Corrector in Peach
As a sad soul who can’t sleep on planes, my dark circles were pretty much crying out the entire trip and I had to neutralise it in attempt to look a part of the living community. This peach corrector does the job nicely, with it being lightweight and very blendable. Similar to many highlighting concealer pens out there, this comes with a mini brush and a clicking mechanism at the bottom to help dispense the product.
It is fuss free and I like how it applies easily onto the undereye area with no mess. It immediately does brighten up the eye area and after concealer, my dark circles are decently covered (this is already considered top notch, considering my dark circles can compete with those calefare zombies in The Walking Dead).
Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara
Despite myself bringing false lashes and constantly reminding myself to wear them, I didn’t. This mascara is enough for me. This adds a great amount of volume and a good amount of length to my lashes without them looking overly spidery or clumpy. I absolutely adore this mascara and I can’t get over the fact that it is only SGD 6.50.
This isn’t waterproof though, so do take note if you’re constantly struggling with smudged mascara under the eyes. I do like that it isn’t though, as it makes makeup removal at the end of a long day that much easier and quicker.
Peri Pera Ink Velvet Lip Tints
Whenever I want a lip colour to last, I would reach for my lip tints. These Peri Pera ones last a good amount of time on the lips without drying them out. Its consistency reminds me of a velvet lip cream, as it does not set completely on the lips and despite it transferring slightly when drinking or eating, these impart a nice stain to the lips so it doesn’t look patchy or streaky. Even with my constant battle against dry lips, these lip velvets do not dry them out even further and I love how easy they apply with the cute doe foot applicator!
Simple Makeup Cleansing Wipes
I got these in my first pit stop, London and have been using them every single day since. These wipes are alcohol free (score!) with no artificial fragrance and are decently moist to remove an entire face of makeup without much tugging or pulling of the skin. It also claims to be able to remove waterproof mascara, but I have not worn any since to test that claim out yet. After wiping it all off, my skin does not feel tight or dry in any way and that is a great sign. One sheet is enough for me to remove my entire face makeup and a packet contains 25 wipes.
How To Be A Grown Up by Daisy Buchanan
A huge part of me was really pumped to be able to read my books on the plane and train during my travels. Yes, I know, nerd alert (and proud). Since part of me really wanted to figure out my life and my next steps, I brought this book along with me. Yes, this book may not look the most appealing, and it may even seem frivolous. Before you judge a book by its cover literally, let me just say this. If you’re confused, dumbfounded, baffled, perplexed or befuddled about adulthood and life, this is a book that can definitely give you a little somethin’ somethin’.
Sure, it may not be some aged advice from an experienced and wise old man stroking his long ass beard, but it is nice to just read about the struggles that someone else went through in figuring out adulthood and to know that you’re not alone. In fact, I was reading this on the plane and a really cute air steward asked me all about it and said he needed a book like this. Even if this book doesn’t inspire you a wee bit, maybe you would get a lil chit chat with a random cute stranger eh? But I’m sure it will!
Struggling to settle back down to normal life in Singapore but I am excited for July! I am planning to implement new routines into my life, especially after all the trial and errors of the past six months. It really just seems like it was yesterday when I made my new year’s resolutions but here we are, half a year later.
Hope June was wonderful for you and let’s just keep on going!
