Hey everyone. Recently, I received a package from Maybelline containing their new collection to the Color Sensational range and I’d thought I would share with you swatches. This new collection is called the Inti-matte Nudes (smart name!) and it has 10 shades of nudes that cater to every skin tone, be it neutral, warm or cool. I do like that idea quite a bit as some nude lipsticks can look ashy or wash me out so having a selection to colour match does sound lovely.
Just a quick reference and some general guidelines if you’re lost when it comes to your skin tone. You have a warm skin tone if you have an olive or peachy undertone, tan easily or your veins look green. Gold jewelry will generally look better on you too. I personally do have a warm skin tone and for shade reference, I am NC 30 in Mac. On the other hand, cool skin toned people will usually have a pinkish undertone, blue/purple veins, look better in silver jewelry and turn pink under the sun easily. Lastly, neutral skin tones have no obvious tones of pink or sallow skin, but rather the skin’s natural color is more evident.
Maybelline recommends these shades if you are:
Warm – Touch of Nude, Chili Nude (my favourite of the bunch!), Just A Teaser & Honey Cherry
Cool – Raw Cocoa, Walnut, Pretty Please & Smitten
Neutral – Nude Illusion & Toasted Brown
Skin tone aside, I do think that your overall makeup choices do play a role in the overall look. Generally, I like to pair a warm toned blush to the warm eyeshadow shades I use on my eyelids. Thus, using a warmer lipstick shade would complement the look better in my opinion. I do find myself looking pretty washed out if I pair it with a cool toned lip, especially since I love super warm toned peachy eyeshadows. However, makeup is just that. Play around and see what you like as there really aren’t any rules.
If I had to pick my favourite shade of the bunch, it has to be chili nude. I love this shade so much! It’s a gorgeous coral orange and since I am generally a walking banana since my skin is so olive in tone, this looks lovely on me (or at least, I think so!). I do like that they are pigmented and glide on nicely due to its creamy formulation. I do suggest prepping your lips with a lip balm before hand as it can get dry throughout the day as it is a matte lipstick after all.
These lipsticks will be launched at all Maybelline counters from 1st October 2017 and will be retailing at SGD 14.90! Side note, all Color Sensational lipsticks will be reduced to SGD 14.90 instead of their usual SGD 19.90 too. Whoop!
Hope the swatches are useful! Thank you to Maybelline Singapore for sending these over!
So will you be picking any of these up?
Till then,
