Oh, the joys of finishing products. Generally, I make it a point to constantly switch up my routines so that I can give some forgotten items some love. However, there are just some items which I thoroughly enjoy and I will keep incorporating them into my daily routine until they are completely used up. This past month of October, I have been pretty religious in my skincare and managed to use up some items which is really rare for me!
Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Complete UV Waterlight Lotion*
I have mentioned my love for this lightweight sunscreen before (read about it here) and it was a pleasure to use it up. In short, this is a great all over sunscreen to apply before heading out of the house. It has decent sun protection of SPF 50+ PA+++ and it blends really easily on the skin due to its watery texture. If you’re on the hunt for something that is perfect for Singapore’s hot and humid climate, I’d say this sunscreen is one you should try!
Essence Volume Stylist Lash Extension Mascara
Where can I begin with this mascara. I absolutely love it. Essence rarely does let me down with their mascaras and it’s so affordable! I bought this when I was in Europe in June (I am not too sure if I spot this in Singapore’s Essence counters), so it was time to let this go. This Volume Stylish mascara does exactly what its name claims to do, it adds such a good amount of volume to my lashes without them being overly clumpy. In terms of lengthening, it does it slightly without giving those pesky clumps at the ends of the lashes. I really did enjoy this and wished that I had bought a backup. My lashes looked much fuller and there was more definition to my eyes in a single coat. I did notice that this mascara does dry out slightly faster than the rest I’ve tried, but regardless, I highly recommend you picking this up to try! I am sure I got it for less than 4 Euros.
Jordana Best Lash Extreme Volumizing Mascara
I’ll be straight. I do not get the hype around this mascara. I got this a while back and it has never wowed me. In fact, I quite dislike the formula as it takes a long time to dry on my lashes and I’d usually find myself with black smudges under the eyes if I accidentally blinked too fast or god forbid, sneezed. I did not find this mascara to add a decent amount of volume like its name suggests as well. Thus, it was time for me to chuck it out and say good riddance.
DKNY Be Delicious Eau De Parfum
This is the first ever perfume I’ve finished so far and I absolutely love this perfume! I tend to go for fresh, fruity scents in the day as it perks me up and makes me feel energised to take on the day. This perfume encompasses that. This features top notes of Apple, Grapefruit, Cucumber and Magnolia and base notes of Sandalwood, Amber and Musk. Scents are a very personal thing and for me, the notes of apple and magnolia really hits the spot. It does last a pretty decent time on me as well. I have plans to repurchase this soon! I got mine from SASA Singapore about a year back for SGD 30, but I think that was during a sale.
Kat Burki Illume Brightening Serum*
I mentioned this Illume Brightening Serum in my skincare on trial post in July and I have been using this ever since. This serum is of slightly thicker consistency than many of my watery serums, but it gets absorbed into the skin almost immediately after application. It layers with my other serums and skincare without any issues as well. After a few months, I have to day that my skin definitely does look brighter. I usually get some sallowness around the edges of my forehead and under my cheekbone area. After using this as my only brightening serum to test it out, I realised that my skin tone has evened out a lot more than before and my skin does have a hint of radiance to it. Does this serum work? Yes, I do think so. Would I repurchase it again? Probably not as it is quite pricey (going at USD 240 for 30ml) and out of my budget currently.
Vichy Idéalia Lumière Illuminating Replumping Day Cream*
This Replumping Day Cream from Vichy is said to be perfect for stressed and tried skin as it helps to energise the skin and helps the skin regain its hydrated rosy glow. This cream contains the peony root (meant to provide anti-oxidant effects to the skin and makes skin cells healthier) and Vichy pH Balancing Thermal Water From French Volcanoes (for stronger skin barrier). Do note, it also contains denatured alcohol as its 4th ingredient, if you’re concerned about that. I had been using this daily for about 3 months or so and I did enjoy it. It has a light weight texture to it and goes on the skin really nicely. It isn’t thick in consistency at all so massaging it into the skin takes almost no effort. It does a nice job of hydrating the skin and giving my skin a dewy finish after application. As this moisturiser does contain dimethicone, making it silicon-based, it works really well under my makeup as well as I tend to go for silicon-based primers and foundations. This retails for SGD 52 for 50ml in local drugstores but I also found it going for SGD 39 on Lazada.
I actually have a few more items in my empties bin but that would make this too lengthy a post. Thus, I will save it for another which should be up next month or so as I currently am finishing up some more skincare.
