Hi my friends! I thought I would share with you what items I usually bring with me when I go out, with a focus on the beauty items because that’s the main focus of this blog. I do rotate around my bags quite often, but my current bag of the month is my Rebecca Minkoff Chevron Quilted Jumbo Love Crossbody.
This was my first ever Rebecca Minkoff bag purchase and I am pleased with its capacity. This bag fits a good amount of items, including a book which is a huge criteria for me. I do like the leather and the black hardware, but I gotta say, the black hardware did chip on me (the twist lock and the handles). I did feel a little disappointed with the quality as it started chipping after two uses. Regardless, I am a fan of the design and its capacity. It also has a good weight to it and is made from genuine leather, fyi if you’re interested.
I feel like bringing an makeup item out and relying on it for touch ups throughout the day is a true test on whether the product is fuss-free, convenient and easy to work with on-the-go. Depending on your regular makeup routine in the mornings, the items you bring out to touch up will differ. I generally focus on what are my key focuses – undereye concealer, eyebrows and lips – when it comes to makeup and will bring items to fix those should my makeup wears down.
For concealer, I love to bring out my NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer. This concealer comes in a jar and has a creamy consistency which makes it great to control the amount dispensed and applied to the skin. As I usually set my undereye concealer in the morning with a loose translucent powder, I can’t go in with a liquid concealer as it can result in creasing and cakiness under the eye. I do find that the NARS concealers provides me with great coverage to refresh the undereye area but has a lightweight texture to it so that it does not feel heavy applying it over the existing concealer nor does it add a thick layer that results in creases.
My lip products do rotate more often as I change my lip colour more than any other aspect of my makeup. Currently, I have two in my bag, a nude and a red (for days where I just want to pop). This can create so many different lip shades as well if you layer them over each other. I tend to go for sheerer lipsticks as perfect application is slightly challenging when you’re on the go. Moisturising ability are also a criteria as my lips can feel dry throughout the day and applying this over adds a good amount of hydration. This also helps in blending the previous dried up layer of lipstick on the lips with the new coat, making it look fresher!
My two picks now are : L’Oreal Colour Riche Shine Lipstick in 905 Tearose Eternite* (full swatches of all 10 shades here) and Nyx Butter Lipstick in BLS19 Big Cherry Cerise Ronde.
I rarely do blot when I am out but in the event that I want to, I do have always bring with me the Palladio Oil-Absorbing Blotting Tissues with Rice Powder. These blotting sheets have 2 different sides, one is a normal blotting side and the other it covered with rice powder which is said to help blot and powder the skin at the same time. This is by far my favourite blotting sheet and I do use it whenever I have some energy left to care about how my makeup looks.
I do try my best to use different items daily when I do my makeup so that I do rotate around my makeup collection and nothing gets neglected. These makeup items however, are really great products (especially for on the go), so until I find something else, these will stay in my bag!
What is in your bag this month?
