If you were like me before, eyeshadow was definitely one of the more intimidating and complex parts of makeup. When I was younger, eyeshadow looks seemed impossible to recreate and the fear of looking punched in the eye was prevalent. However, once I started playing around with it, I realised that eyeshadow is actually pretty simple and it really depends on the look that you’re going for.
I started learning about eye makeup on YouTube, watching many makeup tutorials and understanding the main key terms like crease, mobile lid and outer v. Now, I realised that eye makeup can be as simple and as complicated as you want it to be, depending on the number of shadows you use to create the intensity and depth that you desire.
Thus, I decided to create my very first class on Skillshare, explaining what I felt were the 3 basic eyeshadow placements to create 3 different eyeshadow looks. Ultimately, how you place the shades and the choice of the colour will change up the look. Thus, the possibilities are endless! There are a lot of makeup tutorials out there, but I feel like there really aren’t many videos explaining makeup theoretically and going through the ultimate basics (because honestly, I would think that it can lean towards the boring side). However, as a teacher, I always see the benefit of breaking it down and attempting to explain step by step. So hopefully, this video can help in your experimentation with various eyeshadows to create certain looks! There really isn’t any right or wrong way as everything is ultimately personal preference after all. Just play around and see what you like!
The video will cover:
1. Essential eye brushes
2. Various sections of the eyelid
3. 3 basic eyeshadow placements shown on paper (to better understand where certain eyeshadow shades can be applied to get a certain effect)
4. 3 tutorials on the application of eyeshadow on my eyelid
