It’s definitely about time that I shared with you guys some of my beauty favourites. I’ve been trying out quite a few new skincare products and I do like quite a few. Also, this month is full of past favourites that I’ve rediscovered and wondered why I stopped using them in the first place. As my acne had flared up recently, I definitely placed more emphasis on skincare, rather than makeup so I only have 2 makeup products to share with you (these products are perfect for a quick and natural look, and I use them everyday!).
Enough with the introduction, let’s dive straight in.
Stridex Maximum Strength Single Step Acne Control Facial Pads
The star skincare product of this month has to my Stridex pads, so I had to mentioned them first. For some reason, my acne got real serious recently and no matter what I did (aka trying out various acne products and the blue light function from my Skin Inc device), it didn’t seem to go away. I’m not sure what led to the sudden outburst, but it was bad. Then I remembered how Stridex had helped my acne previously so I decided to bust it out again. Thankfully, I had an unopened jar in my drawer as the old me knew that I had to be prepared.
After 3 nights of using the Stridex pads, my acne really did reduce significantly. I’m really impressed and I’m so thankful. I know, it might be a little dramatic but acne ain’t something to mess around with. The skin around my cheek area feels smooth again and the little pesky bumps have been greatly reduced. These stridex pads are seriously amazing for reducing the outbreak and helping the existing pimples to heal. I can’t recommend them enough.
I wrote a whole post on Stridex Pads here, so you can read that for more details and why I get the maximum strength version if you’re interested. Now, these pads can be a tad drying to the skin. If you have dry or sensitive skin, I’d recommend running the pad over the skin, leave it to do its magic for about 10-15 minutes and then washing it off. This was how I started using the pads too, as I wasn’t sure if it would be too strong. Now, I just leave it on as my skin is used to it. I get my Stridex Maximum Strength Pads from iHerb.
Canmake Stay-on Balm Rouge Tint
I’m all for a simple tinted lip these days. As my makeup has been extremely minimal, a light tint to the lips to add a little colour to the face is all I need. I have recently repurchased the Canmake Lip Tint and it is really all I have been using the past month. This lip tint feels like a lip balm when applied and it provides great hydration for the lips. The tint isn’t extremely dramatic, which makes it great for quick applications without a mirror, anywhere and anytime. It really is like a lip balm! However, you can layer it up to increase the intensity if you would like. I have mine in the shade T03 Ruby Carnation and it adds just a flush to the lips.
theSAEM Cover Perfection Tip Concealer
Another product I’ve rediscovered recently. As I am running out of my beloved Tarte Shape Tape concealer, I needed something hardy and decided to use this The Saem concealer as I remembered loving it (read my theSaem Cover Perfection Tip Concealer Review here). And I’m glad I did.
This concealer does have many similarities to the Tarte Shape Tape! It has an amazing full coverage and a little goes a long way. In terms of consistency, I would say this feels like the Tarte as well, it has a little slip but it isn’t as fluid as some other liquid concealers. This concealer does set by itself as well, so I don’t have to set it with powder in fear of it sliding all over my face.
This concealer is really affordable (I got mine off Althea Korea for around SGD 5) and with its compact packaging, it’s perfect as a touch up concealer or one after a workout. I usually use this to cover my undereye circles after showering at my spin/boxing place before work. I love it and I can’t recommend it enough too.
Pixi pHenomenal Gel Neutralising Moisturiser*
This is truly a great hydrating yet lightweight moisturiser and it earned a spot in my skincare routine. I love the simple tube packaging of this, as it makes it perfect for slipping it into a travel pouch for on the go. I usually use this after working out as well. It gets absorbed into the skin quickly without any tackiness, so it’s perfect for us living in humid climates. Pixi is an affordable brand and I do think this moisturiser is worth checking out.
Dr Wu Glutalight Serum and Lotion*
I was recently gifted skincare products from the Dr Wu Glutalight range and have been trying them out. This range is meant to target dark spots and pigmentation and help brighten the skin. I really do like them. The Intensive Whitening Serum is very fluid and lightweight, making it perfect as a water based layering serum. I love using this serum with my Skin Inc Optimiser Trilight++(read more about this facial device here).
The Intensive Whitening Lotion is a good lightweight moisturiser as well and I use it in the mornings. The pump is extremely handy and I find that 1.5 pumps is enough for my entire face. There isn’t any overpowering scent and my skin feels like it can breathe after application. More details on the Glutalight range here.
Vichy Mineral 89 Eye Contour Repairing Concentrate*
As Vichy’s Mineral 89 Skin Fortifying Daily Booster Serum was a hit, Vichy recently also launch an accompanying Mineral 89 Eye Contouring Repairing Concentrate. This aims to help repair the eye contours for a brighter look. It comes with a little pump too, which I love. It makes application really convenient. This eye serum itself is really light in texture and gets absorbed into the undereye area in a matter of seconds. This is great as you don’t have to constantly tug on the undereye skin to blend it.
I can’t attest to it lightening up my dark undereye circles just yet, but I can see that some of my fine lines under the eyes look less obvious after application. This hydrates my skin enough for concealer, but isn’t too heavy or rich such that my undereye concealer creases. You can read more about the Mineral 89 Eye Contour Repairing Concentrate here.
That’s all for my current favourites! I hope your September has been going well! I can’t believe that it is only 3.5 months to the end of 2019!
